RECORDING SESSIONS

How it works

Recording Sessions

Timing — please read carefully

We’re really looking forward to hearing you play! To keep things running smoothly for everyone, time slots are booked back-to-back throughout the day, so please arrive ready to start right on time. Slots are a fixed length, and we do need you finished and out of the room by the end of your session, ready for the next person to come in. We know it’s tempting to ask for just a few more minutes to nail a tricky passage or grab another take, but we’re not able to make exceptions here, as it affects everyone booked in after you. Please plan your pieces with this in mind, and leave yourself a moment to pack up before your end time.

What you can record

You’re welcome to record up to four short pieces, or perform a recital-style set. If you’re preparing for an exam, we can cater for exam entries too.

How the session works

Once you’re settled at the piano, the engineer will start the recording and camera, announce what you’re playing and who’s playing it, then clap for syncing — so allow a good few seconds before you start. If you have a false start, don’t worry, just pause and begin again, or ask for a cut. When you finish your piece, please leave about 5 seconds of silence before speaking, so we can fade the recording out nicely.

After your session

Your pieces will be edited together with the film and sent to you as audio and video files via a Google Drive link.

Your information

Please use the form (linked on this page) to list your pieces and give your name and email address. If you’re under 16, please also include a parent or guardian’s name and email address.
